蔡英文總統即將執政屆滿兩周年，他在 520 前夕接受電視節目訪問，表示對於勞工抱怨低薪過勞，將在政府完成整體經濟改革工程後就可以改善，目前先透過減稅，讓民眾的消費能力增加。

蔡英文表示，立法院已經完成減稅修法，民眾明年申報時就可以適用。雖然今年大選投票前還無法適用，不過蔡英文說，「你現在有的錢，我讓你消費能力更高，因為我降低你的稅賦」，因此民眾今年就可以提前享用成果，開始消費或投資。

至於在民眾抱怨低薪方面，蔡英文表示，「我們很多人還是覺得薪資還是稍微低一點，那要等到我們整體經濟改革的工程完成以後，這種高所得，或者是品質好的就業機會，會再一次大量出現」。

蔡英文說明，在經濟改革工程目標完成之前，她先透過減稅，把大家的消費能力增加。

蔡英文指出，稅改其實是政府整體施政的一環，也與提振內需有關，也跟民眾的可支配所得有關，當然也與人民的幸福感有關。她強調，有關改善低薪，要等到結構性的基礎全都做完以後，民眾就會感受到政府的施政。
